Dream Big! (and believe)



Richie McCaw wrote out his dream to become an All Black by 2004 when he was still a teenager. He set out his goals, from national age group sides all the way through to the Test arena, and then signed the document, “G.A.D”. (Great All Black)

He achieved his dream 3 years ahead of his plan!

Henry Ford famously said…“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t-you’re right.”

Don’t underestimate the power of having the right mindset. If you don’t believe you can, you won’t, but if you believe you can…you just might!

  • set your goal high (and believe it!)
  • identify the steps to success
  • practice your chosen skill/art/sport…whatever…relentlessly!
  • think positively not negatively

    Hi Andy, great blog; salient point well and succinctly made. Question for you: when the going gets tough as you head toward your highest goal, how do you keep on track?

      Thanks Marcia – good question! There are many things you can do…here are a few suggestions:

      1. Stay optimistic! Use positive affirmations and ‘self-talk’ regularly. Reminder that this is a choice, you can talk negatively or you can talk positively
      2. Reward yourself for achieving your smaller milestones along the way (any achievement is good, so recognise it!)
      3. Sometimes things don’t go to plan…accept it, reflect on it and make changes! But keep moving forward!
